Launch the "CURE Drug Repurposing Collaboratory"; a public-private partnership to advance drug repurposing for diseases with the highest levels of unmet medical need. As millions of patients struggle with diseases that lack adequate treatment, there is a critical need to understand how existing drugs can be used in new ways to improve clinical outcomes. Healthcare professionals use existing drugs is novel ways through the practice of medicine as potentially life-saving interventions, when no approved therapies are available. However, without the ability to share these experiences in a systematic manner, the clinical community cannot learn or benefit from these experiences. The Collaboratory provides a structure and organization for stakeholders to address these challenges by capturing real-world data and defining a path for regulatory approval of existing marketed drugs for a new indication.
