Marco Simoni is a political economist with twenty-five years of experience in government, university and management. He holds a degree in Political Science from the La Sapienza University of Rome and a PhD in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.He is currently the President of EUR SpA, an asset-management company; a board member of SACE SpA, the Italian Export Credit Agency, as well as an adjunct professor at the Luiss University of Rome.From 2018 to 2022 he was the first President of the Human Technopole Foundation, the new international research institute for life sciences located in the area that hosted Expo Milano 2015 and which allowed its redevelopment into an innovation district (Milano Innovation District). From 2014 to 2018 he was a Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Italy on issues of International Economic Affairs and industrial policy. From 2007-2014 he was a faculty member at the London School of Economics, holding various positions up to Associate Professor in Political Economy.Marco Simoni authored numerous scientific publications on comparative capitalism issues and wrote a book on the crisis of Italian capitalism published in 2012 by Marsilio. He intervenes regularly on Italian media and consults on issues of European political economy.
