An internship at a German power plant arouse my interest for the energy sector in 2009. Ever since, I worked in several positions from consulting to strategy departments of large, international utilities to deepen my knowledge and expertise.After graduating from RWTH Aachen university in mechanical engineering and business, I joined McKinsey & Company in Düsseldorf. Through various positions across McKinsey’s Research department and client-facing roles as a Practice Specialist, I was able to gain a broad understanding of the energy industry across various players and the entire value chain with a focus on conventional and renewable electricity generation. In addition, I was able to develop my soft skills in top-down communication and presentation in written and verbal form.By joining E.ON Climate & Renewables’ Strategy team I was able to utilize the developed skills for an international utility. I was responsible for leading several key strategy projects (e.g., Strategy Review) involving teams of up to 5 people across various business units and presenting the results to the C-suite. After transferring to RWE, I joined RWE AG’s Corporate Strategy team, where I primarily focused on strategic projects across RWE’s business units (incl. hydrogen, renewables, trading and conventional generation) and assessments of M&A opportunities. My main contribution was the acquisition of ConEdison Clean Energy Businesses in the US, which I supported from the deal origination phase, through the due diligence, up to leading the integration preparation incl. a team of ~15 internal and external consultants.As of Aug. 1, 2023, I am contributing to building up RWE’s US Hydrogen Development team.
