I am a purpose-driven development economist with 18 years of experience in digital financial services, financial inclusion, financial health, rural financing, and social development. I led high-impact projects in collaboration with senior-level government officials, donors, and the private sector. I lead initiatives to advance financial health and MSEs' resilience in Mexico. ___Since 2022, I have worked as a Senior Consultant in Financial Services at BFA Global. I'm acting as director of Strive Learning Network, a program funded by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth that aims to increase resilience for 100k MSEs in Mexico. I was responsible for the growth and execution of FinnSalud, a program funded by MetLife Foundation to bring financial health to thousands of Mexicans. I acted as the Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director of the financial inclusion department at Mexico's financial regulator, the CNBV, from 2015 to 2021. I led Mexico's National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, where I led proposals to (i) establish financial health as its primary objective for the first time, (ii) develop a coordination mechanism with stakeholders, (iii) measure the advancements through an M&M framework, and (iv) develop a theory of change to guide efforts and v) include an assessment of risks. In addition, I led the design, fieldwork, enumerator training, and analysis of the National Survey of Financial Inclusion. I launched various research initiatives to support the decision-making process of policymakers and FSPs. I authored or co-authored more than 40+ research docs regarding successful business models, public policy interventions, and statistical and geospatial analyses of financial inclusion. Leverage partnerships with international development organizations (IADB, GIZ, Sparkassen, AFI). These partnerships funded pioneering projects regarding inequalities in women's and people with disabilities access to financial serviceI worked at the largest rural development bank for four years and at the Ministry of Social Development for three years. I hold a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's in public policy and management.
