Rapidly growing its renewables business is core to bp’s strategy – by 2030 bp aims to have developed around 50GW of net renewable generating capacity up from 3.3GW in 2020. In my current role I support the development and operation of offshore wind and other renewable projects and focus on marine sound technical guidance for offshore wind development opportunities, to reduce the potential impact that underwater noise may have on marine life.As Consent & Stakeholder Advisor my responsibilities include:• Support the consistent implementation across the offshore wind projects of applicable internal and external requirements for sound and marine life• Lead offshore wind project studies and programmes related to marine sound• Support offshore wind projects to manage performance on sound and marine life contributing to company ambitions for achieving biodiversity Net Positive Impact• Collaborate with key stakeholders in marine science and R&D space (consulting bodies, statutory authorities and academia)• Responsible for the delivery of marine environmental surveys and studies required to support Environmental and Social Impact Assessments• Provide marine environmental science advice to project teams

As a sr. scientist maritime and offshore structures within TNO's Mobility & Built Environment (MBE) unit, I am working on various research projects on ship safety and reliability and -especially- offshore renewable energy. A common denominator of these projects is their focus on the reliability, safety, performance and service life of structures, that we investigate and (if possible) improve with a combination of modelling and laboratory or field testing.

R&D in offshore geotechnics, underwater acoustics and Arctic engineering; installation analysis of fixed and floating offshore platforms. Assigned company specialist responsible for underwater noise predictions, noise mitigation and noise monitoring as part of pile driving operations, with extensive experience with regulatory bodies and authorities. Working on a number of development projects targeted at new "silent foundation" concepts, to provide an alternative to impact-driven pile foundations that can reduce the environmental impact of offshore installations.
