Digital UK manages strategy and operations for Freeview. In my role I oversaw strategy development and implementation from the launch of Freeview Play in 2015 to its growth to over 7m active devices - far outstripping the pace of expansion of any other hybrid connected TV service in the UK. I also led engagement with policy makers (Ofcom, Parliament and Govt officials) on issues of strategic importance for Free to view TV in the UKI managed a small and talented team with a broad range of responsibilities including:- Strategy formulation and regular reviews of our mid term strategic roadmap, through in-depth Board engagement- Annual strategic plans, defining priorities, KPIs and tracking progress through quarterly cycles- Strategic implementation projects, e.g. product transformation initiatives- Business modelling and forecasting- Market insight and consumer researchDigital UK is a joint venture owned by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Arqiva

Ofcom is the UK regulator and competition authority for the UK communication industries (broadcast media, telecommunications, radio spectrum, post). I joined the Ofcom Strategy team as Analyst and moved vertically to the grade of Principal through two in-role promotions.My duties at Ofcom included:- Managing complex policy projects, coordinating the work of economic, technical, legal and market research specialists- Defining Ofcom’s strategic approach to regulation, both through forward-looking reviews of sectoral issues, and through the annual planning cycle setting objectives, priorities and assessing outcomes- Working as an in-house consultant providing strategic input and analysis for other Ofcom functions- Engaging with Ofcom’s Senior Management and the Board on particularly high risk / high profile issues.

Ovum (now part of Informa Group) was an independent boutique analysis and consulting firm specialising in telecoms, media and technology.I worked on consulting assignments spanning across: - Commercial due diligence / M&A advice on a telecoms operator - Digital transformation for a major African broadcaster- Business unit strategy re-assessments for a telecoms equipment vendor- International analysis of sectoral trends and benchmarking for a South Korean operator.
