Research Experience• Completed thesis project towards Master of Clinical Psychology. Title: A repeated measures atropine titration study in the Olfactory Stress Test for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (2014). Research involved inferential statistical analysis of the data.• Completed thesis project towards Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology. Title: Are there qualitative changes I volunteering experience following guided reflection associated with religious meditation (2009)? Research consisted of a phenomenological study with thematic analysis. The analysis was used as feedback to the religious organisation that relied on the work of the volunteers participating in the study. This feedback revolved around the experience—aspirations and frustrations—of the volunteers.Precis of Skills• Writing• Microsoft Word and Excel• Have used SPSS• InterviewingI am one with many interests, and the idea of lived-experience mental health research is appealing because it draws research into the personal realm, where researchers with mental-ill health can use their personal experience to relate to study participants and gather input that could better inform future research.Most of the lived-experience research tends to focus on translational research, transforming bench-top scientific investigation into actionable mental health service delivery. In the future, I would like to go beyond that and study the impacts of stigma as a lived-experience researcher. But those are long-term goals. At present, I am seeking to expand my research experience in mental health by securing a role as a research assistant or officer. To this effect, I am a member of the lived-experience research collective at The ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation, and I would consider undertaking some volunteer work.The role of community radio presenter provides an outlet for my music passion. I am an amateur musician who finds no better pleasure than to explore and geek out about music. As a presenter, I get to do just that. The beauty of community radio is that the content starts with the presenter, providing a platform to members of the community to share with the world music that mainstream radio might otherwise overlook. To serious music fans, ones that perhaps might want to expose themselves to new things, community radio stations is the place to start. I am fortunate in having the opportunity to conduct this work.I am also a writer and have published news articles in the past, currently working towards resuming a blog I had started years ago.
