I was selected as 1 of 10 undergraduate students to be a Research Intern at Penn State University during Summer 2022, where we conducted peer-reviewed research in Machine Learning in Cybersecurity, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. My research was done thanks to the direct supervision of PhD staff and PhD candidates from universities in the USA and Taiwan. During my research, I evaluated how Counterfactual Explanations are naturally intellectually designed by laypeople, how they come to trust information, and how the multidisciplinary collaboration of Computer Scientists, Software Engineers and Psychology researchers can maximize the swift acceptance of Machine Learning Models intended to prevent the dissemination of fake news. I proposed a User Study intended to ask users to evaluate trust measurements in the presence of Counterfactual Explanations of different structure and content.
