During his more than 25-year career, Marc Ricks has been an operator, investor, strategist, and people leader. In those capacities he has driven financial, organizational, and physical improvements in real estate, infrastructure, and adjacent markets. Google subsequently absorbed the company into its own sustainability efforts.Also in the private sector, Marc has advanced landmark projects. This includes the expansion of New York Penn Station into the former Farley Post Office building to create the Moynihan Train Hall, as part of the development team at Vornado Realty Trust, one of New York’s largest commercial property owners. He also pursued transportation and energy investments as a member of the Infrastructure Investment Group at Goldman Sachs. He previously worked in strategy for Bloomberg LP and began his career at McKinsey & Company.In the public sector, Marc served as Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Development & Rebuilding, where he played an active role in major projects such as the rebirth of the High Line and the transformation of the west side of Manhattan into a mixed-use district known as Hudson Yards (anchored by the city’s first subway expansion in decades). In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, at the request of Mayor Michael Bloomberg he returned temporarily to government service to help create a landmark plan to protect New York City from the impacts of extreme weather and climate change.Marc is active in the civic life of New York, most notably as the former Chair of the Friends of Governors Island. He recently produced and co-edited The Urbanist: Dan Doctoroff and the Rise of New York, which was recommended by The Economist as essential reading for “every journalist, politician and pundit worth their salt.”Marc holds degrees from the Harvard Business School (George F. Baker Scholar) and Princeton University.

A ~40-person team drawn from the public and private sectors worked around-the-clock for six months to produce a document that reflected both the latest scientific thinking and extensive community input. The over 400-page report, entitled "PLANYC: A Stronger, More Resilient New York," was released by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to widespread acclaim in June 2013. -
