In 2014, I founded the Law Offices of Marc D. Smith, LLC. With the new firm, I continue to represent Ohio and Florida clients on their important Business, Estate, Trust, Probate, Tax, and Real Estate matters. The new firm remains at 7650 Rivers Edge Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43235.

In 2006, I purchased Joseph Kohler's remaining shares in Kohler & Smith Co., LPA, becoming the sole Shareholder and President. Since that time, I have managed the growth of our firm from 3 to 7 employees, while growing our client base to more than 3,000 current clients. In 2007, I became licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, expanding our.

In 2003, I became a Shareholder in the newly formed Kohler & Smith Co., LPA. I took on important administrative roles while leading the growth of our tax and business practices.

I relocated from Toledo to Columbus to join Joseph Kohler's law practice. Joe was an excellent mentor to me, as I assisted clients with their important estate planning and probate matters. Additionally, I was able to add a tax preparation and planning practice to the firm.

National City was acquired by PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. in 2008. I joined National City in 1993 as a Cost Accountant in the Financial Management & Control department of their Toledo bank. I was responsible for determining division, profit center, and product profitability for the Northwest Ohio region. I later became the Assistant Controller.

NCOT Accounting & Consulting, Inc. merged with Plante & Moran, PLLC in August 1997. My brief time in public accounting provided me with the opportunity to audit and review a variety of Midwestern companies, from manufacturing, to retail, to non-profit entities. Most importantly, this position taught me the importance of communication and a strong work.
