About Marc Steven Ramos

Learning is the New Work, and learning amplifies everything.Over the past 20+ years, I have learned the #1 importance of building and sustaining trust-based relationships. Without trust, your efforts feel like Sisyphus endlessly pushing a boulder uphill, amplifying little. I am passionate about learning innovation and maximizing purpose, profit, and the happiness of a skilled workforce and ecosystem. My always-on poise is fueled by curiosity, a data-informed approach to decisions, and challenging convention.Material accomplishments:- Centralized diverse learning teams, portfolios, and operating models into a federated model, delivering $125M in savings.- Increased ESG and Dow Jones Sustainability scores for training from the 79th percentile to the 100th percentile.- Grew Oracle University training revenue from $200M to $411M.- Implemented a cross-functional Skills Operating System team that unified skill ontologies, taxonomies, and more, accelerating the deployment of an AI- and skills-first tech ecosystem.I have been fortunate to serve the growth and development needs of organizations like Google, Microsoft, Accenture, Novartis, Oracle, and Red Hat. Most recently, I served as Chief Learning Officer at Cornerstone, supporting 7,000+ customers and over 125 million users, with a primary focus on thought leadership and the deployment of AI strategies.Previously, while living in Basel, Switzerland, I led Novartis’ Learning Strategy and Innovation function, enabling 900+ training teammates. My responsibilities included creating centralized global services for learning systems, analytics, KM, design, and portfolio optimization, the latter tasked with identifying waste and redundancy, leading to $100 million+ in portfolio and vendor savings. At Google, I led Consumer Ops EDU, supporting 3.2 billion users, and also served as Head of Education for Google Fiber. Coming from a family of teachers, I was proud to lead our professional development programs for training educators on Google offerings and to build Google’s central Learning Design function.Recently, I was appointed as a Fellow at Harvard's Learning Innovation Lab, and am published in Harvard Business Review, highlighting an AI decision framework. Also, I gained credentials from MIT in AI Strategy and am learning volumes as an EdTech Advisor for startups.I live in Cape Coral, Florida, am an avid foodie, and am currently trying to succeed in bouldering and weightlifting. Currently, I am on a much-needed break to travel, read, write, and research. That is, slowing down to hurry up.

Listed skills include Training, Strategy, Program Management, Leadership, and 45 others.

Honored and excited to be appointed as Fellow, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Learning Innovations Laboratory (LILA).LILA is celebrating its 25th year focused on innovative approaches to organizational learning and change. This is a somewhat exclusive and limited group of roughly 25 leaders from diverse companies and industries focused less on best practice and being a think-tank, but more on the ‘Next Practice’ or as I call it, serving as a strategic ‘do-tank’. “[We] collaborate by sharing experimental work and emerging thinking in order to generate effective future practices.” This is most valued given the partnership with diverse Harvard researchers and scholars also dedicated to learning innovation, and providing hardened, evidence-based practical Frameworks.Leaders from Apple, Mooney’s, Visa, Santander Bank, BlackRock, Meta, US Army, Johnson Controls and others are involved, joining guest collaborators including Peter Senge (MIT), Dave Snowden (Cynefin Centre), John Seely Brown (University of Southern California), Amy Edmondson (Harvard Business School) and others.Looking forward to learning, collaborating, challenging and contributing.More about LILA here: https://www.learninginnovationslab.org/
