Dr. Marcus Abboud has dedicated his professional career to improve implant dentistry and to create safer, more efficient procedures. The research focusing on implant bed preparation and bone surgery has resulted in a significant enhancement of the drill bits used. It is safe to say that today the tools for implant bed preparations are considered as significant as the implant themselves. Dr. Abboud graduated from the University of Bonn (Germany) in 1996 and started in the Prosthodontic Department of the same University in 1997. In 2000, he received his PhD in dentistry/Prosthodontics. From 2001 - 2003 he worked in the Department of Dental Research (Material Science) at the University of Bonn before joining the Oral Surgery Certificate Program at the same University in 2003. He successfully completed the program in 2007 and worked there as an Assistant Professor and Interdisciplinary Clinical Study Director until September 2010. Dr. Abboud received his Expert Certification in CBCT Technology and Diagnostics in 2010 from the Dental Medical Association Nordrhein.Dr. Abboud was the Founding Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine (NY, USA) from 2011-2016. During this time period he established 3 specialty programs (Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology) and a productive research and education operation. From July 2016 to September 2019 he was Full Professor and Associate Dean for Digital Dentistry at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Since September 2019 he is working as the Founding Member and Managing Partner of Loocid LLC, a medical & dental innovation company.Dr. Abboud has authored over 60 publications, research articles and book chapters. He has lectured extensively on CAD/CAM technology, digital dentistry, implantology, bone grafting, guided surgery and CBCT/CT diagnostic imaging and has been involved in research for over 18 years. He holds multiple patents, being used in various countries, which provide new solutions for dentistry.
