In this role, I serve as a liaison to the elected and appointed officials from the member cities and towns of the North Carolina League of Municipalities. This is accomplished by visiting communities and their representatives, communicating through electronic methods, participating in conferences and meetings, explaining the value of League services, risk management products and services, and having general knowledge of programs sponsored by the NCLM. Other duties include corresponding with municipal leaders about key legislative issues, staying informed about insurance markets and plan designs, training municipal personnel, and understanding insurance reports. Essential functions include:-Build and maintain relationships with members and key municipal personnel by serving as the primary liaison between them and NCLM.-Assist member municipal staff with special assistance needs by sharing expertise from previous professional experiences and sharing resources available at the League or through partnering agencies and other public or private organizations.-Assist members in selecting the programs, insurance products, and services that are right for them; promote risk pools and other League products and services; provide information to members in a timely manner. -Advise members on relevant education, training, and professional development opportunities. -Represent the NCLM at events and conferences, promoting League services and programs; networking through staff booths; and attending additional workshops and trainings offered by League. -Provide underwriting and insurance technical assistance to League staff and members.

- Develop and maintain a new Energy Efficiency Program Provided through the NCRWA, a diverse group of all stars that provide water and waste water member systems with the highest quality of technical services possible.-Troubleshoot common and complex problems preventing water and sewer systems from operating in their most efficient capacity. -Conduct on-site energy audits and assessments for rural and small community water and wastewater systems and make recommendations to those systems on ways to operate the system in the most energy efficient manner.-Assist membership systems with water system development, management, accounting, public finance principles, and state/federal regulatory requirements.-Develop and maintain professional relationships with collaborative state and federal agencies, and utility system managers to enhance service delivery.

I was previously a summer intern with the objective to work with all departments to perform a wide array of tasks. I benefited from unique learning experiences with tasks that included: - Work directly with employees from all departments to better understand how the city operates, and what employees need from management. - Complete a budget & benchmark analysis project, comparing the City of Lenoir to nine other neighboring municipalities through per-capita funding and staffing levels by department. - Attend and participate in administrative staff meetings, Caldwell County Economic Development Commission meetings, budget work sessions, Planning Board and Board of Adjustment meetings, Board of Adjustment meetings, City Council meetings, etc. - Assist in a police department hiring & promotion process. Participate in overnight ride-along shifts with officers. - Create and develop an electronic record of damaged tiles in the veterans’ memorial park for refund from the manufacturer.
