In this role, I serve as a liaison to the elected and appointed officials from the member cities and towns of the North Carolina League of Municipalities. This is accomplished by visiting communities and their representatives, communicating through electronic methods, participating in conferences and meetings, explaining the value of League services, risk management products and services, and having general knowledge of programs sponsored by the NCLM. Other duties include corresponding with municipal leaders about key legislative issues, staying informed about insurance markets and plan designs, training municipal personnel, and understanding insurance reports. Essential functions include:-Build and maintain relationships with members and key municipal personnel by serving as the primary liaison between them and NCLM.-Assist member municipal staff with special assistance needs by sharing expertise from previous professional experiences and sharing resources available at the League or through partnering agencies and other public or private organizations.-Assist members in selecting the programs, insurance products, and services that are right for them; promote risk pools and other League products and services; provide information to members in a timely manner. -Advise members on relevant education, training, and professional development opportunities. -Represent the NCLM at events and conferences, promoting League services and programs; networking through staff booths; and attending additional workshops and trainings offered by League. -Provide underwriting and insurance technical assistance to League staff and members.
