Implement and teach the curricula in the classroom set by North Carolina’s Department of Instruction in Media and Technology. With the teachers, guide and facilitate activities of the children, including: daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom. Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the center, which at time may require changes to meet the needs of the children. Use parent conferences to discuss the child's individual development and progress, assist the parents in developing observational skills and solicit parent observations. Eat with and assist children in development of social and self-help skills, and sound nutritional practices. Attend staff training and meetings, and board and parent meetings as requested. Assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment. Assist the teacher in the completion of required reports. Complete timely and accurate time sheets. Assist, as requested in transition activities. Distribute newsletters, flyers, and other information to families as instructed by the supervisor. Actively participate in the development and implementation of the Teacher Assistant professional development plan. Successful experience working in a team setting. Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises athletic programs while adhering to city policies. Train beginning athletic coordinators. Supervises a variety of competitive and non-competitive games, stunts, and contests. Supervises and directs scorekeepers assigned to assist. Knowledge of and ability to apply rules governing play of each sport the City of Jacksonville offers. Officiates at youth baseball/softball, youth basketball, and pickle ball contests and may prepare the playing field and instruct participants. Makes oral presentations to the coaches prior to the contest about rules and expectations. Prepares, issues and receives recreation equipment such as balls, bats, gloves, and nets. Appraises officials and makes a written report after games have been completed. Maintains attendance, activity records, and score cards. Maintains accident, incident, and emergency reports. Maintains athletic facilities and prepares for sporting events. May render first aid or CPR.
