As an Associate of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), the responsibility of this position is to implement, oversee and participate in establishing effective EHS policies and programs at Amgen Thousand Oaks, Ca facility. As an EHS Associate, other key responsibilites included implementation, coordination, advancement and support of existing environmental management and laboratory safety programs at the site level.

EH&S Project Specialist Conduct audits, testing, evaluation, and verification to ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Consult with site contract personnel on best practices for controlling and reducing Environmental Waste release. Design engineering controls to reduce worker injury and promote safety. Policy and Procedure Implementation: Wrote and directed implementation of safety procedures and processes for facility implementation. Audit Management: Transformed EHS audit function from management to compliance driven process. Managed and worked within cross functional regulatory audit teams. Staff Development: Wrote plans for and provided training to employees on safety procedures such as, Machine Guarding, Industrial hygiene, Forklift Safety etc. Coordinated and managed several safety audit teams throughout the facility Operational Analysis: Conducted successful evaluations using new evaluation processes. Regulatory Compliance: Teamed with corporate management and local regulatory agencies to facilitate compliance with State safety regulations. Supported efforts to pursue Cal OSHA VPP Star Status.

Metrology/ InstrumentationResponsible for calibrating hot air, cold air, hot water, and cold water pressure flow indicators while dealing with the usage of highly flammable chemicals. Pipe welding was another key responsibility of this position which gave me the hands-on skills I needed to successfully navigate my job responsibilities.

Corporate Engineering and Capital ProjectsDuties included but were not limited to collecting metrology and instrumentation data and tracking on spreadsheets. I was assigned to the building Maintenance Group. I again had the opportunity to shadow some of the Contract Manufacturing and construction Engineers in the managing of a 5 Billion dollar Capital Engineering Project budget. This assignment afforded me the opportunity to gain valuable project management skills.

Responsible for accumulating data related to building occupancy, building location and equipment usage. I was assigned to the building maintenance group under the direction of the Area Engineering leader. My main duties involved the calibration of HVAC units as well as the repair of gas and steam piping units. During my assignment, we were able to relocate more than 5 separate business units with minor difficulties that included area design, equipment relocation and safety assessments. This was accomplished while the company was experiencing massive scale and changes as a result of both organic and external growth resulting from mergers and acquisitions.Other duties included but were not limited to data collection in support of building design and capacity and preparing site locations for occupancy. Responsibilities also included metrology, the calibration of air and water flow meters. We were able to re-calibrate 100% of the hardware during my tenure.

As a first year intern, it was my initial duty to shadow many of the engineers in the Facilities Engineering Department. Part of those duties was to learn the proper operation of key machinery and piping layouts for the site. I was also involved in other training courses covering, safety, machine usage, assembly, disassembly and data collection. I was responsible for in-box out-box spread sheets on part orders. These duties were in support of an 8 billion dollar business. Additionally, I supported the Engineering function through significant change initiatives during a time of needed capacity and product relocation locations.
