As a career professional in commodity risk management, now for over a decade at CattleFax, I have filled the title of energy market analyst, as well as covering other professional roles. During this time I have learned a lot about multiple industries, both cattle and energy focused. On a daily basis I have been responsible for providing timely research and professional market forecasts on topics such as crude oil, natural gas, refined fuels, finance, economics, trade, geopolitics, and foreign policy.As part of the CattleFax Risk Management team, I am also responsible for assisting the rest of the analyst staff with creating industry leader forecasts and analysis related to cattle and beef markets.Other roles I am currently performing or have previously assisted with include: data analysis using SQL, building automated analysis across various BI platforms, experimenting with neural networks and generative AI automation.

Assist in grain marketing for our client farmers, ranchers, and dairy producers. I also provide input to develop risk management strategies. Various tasks include futures data collection, interpretation, and organization; as well as overseeing a student produced weekly basis report.

While studying as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M, I collected corn and sorghum basis data and organized a weekly report for the National Sorghum Producers. This required me to maintain regular contact with grain end-users to collect their cash bids and calculate basis for regions throughout the southwest and midwest.
