Marcus Castle is a Emergency Preparedness Manager at Grand Canyon University. Colleagues describe him as "Marcus Castle is an extraordinary program manager. I have witnessed his devotion to his job during the workday and many more hours spent afterhours. Shortly after starting his role at Grand Canyon University, the impacts of Covid-19 began to affect the United States. Marcus was in his prime in Emergency Management and quickly began initiating safety protocols to limit the transmission on campus. In addition to ensuring the health of students and on-campus safety, Marcus established a vaccination site that was the first in Arizona to provide vaccinations to patients without vehicles. In the 5th largest city in the United States, it is a significant population that was not being served by other sites. I had the opportunity to volunteer at GCU’s vaccination site and from one program manager to another, it was incredibly organized and efficient. Separate vaccination areas were created for vehicles and for walk-up patients. The combination of GCU employees, health care professionals, and volunteers worked seamlessly to move patients through the required steps quickly. The vaccination site gave hope and relief to many, including myself, who had waited months for our shots. "
