Stryker Systems Maintainer, work as part of a team to maintain the Stryker vehicles and keep the vehicles and the operating systems running smoothly. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, and repair and replace components using advanced test equipment, precision hand tools, and technical manuals and diagrams.

The Squadron Maintenance Officer[SMO] is the principal assistant to the Squadron Executive Officer[SXO], both squadron and DOTS/FMX, on all matters pertaining to the field maintenance mission. The SMO serves as the liaison between 1st Squadron 16th Cavalry Regiment and DOT/FMX using SAMS–1 [Standard Army Maintenance System-1], SAMS–2, BCS3 [Battle Command Sustainment Support System]. He is also is the senior person in the UMCP [unit maintenance collection point] and is responsible for the local security requirements and tying in with adjacent units. He is responsible to the commander for the management of the combined efforts of the maintenance control section, maintenance section and service and recovery section, and the maintenance system teams.Additional Dutes and Responisbilies:-Evaluate and ensure the quality of all maintenance completed by the troops. -Monitor the status of equipment undergoing repairs, and determine the status of the repair parts required to complete those repairs.-Forecast and monitor the workload for all equipment, by type.

Responsible for the training, discipline, health, morale, professional development, and combat readiness of Soldiers, and NCOs; responsible for the accountability and combat readiness of military vehicles and all related equipment; aids the Platoon Supervisor in preparing and conducting Platoon training while ensuring the section is prepared for worldwide deployment or situation.
