Stevens Point artist Marcus Decker creates one-of-a-kind, solid wood furnishings. Working with each individual client to ensure the color, grain, and species of wood will work functionally, structurally, and aesthetically in the room or lifestyle it is designed to complement. Each piece is made of solid lumber, shop made veneers, and utilizing engineered wood products when necessary, blending traditional hand cut joinery with modern work methods. Utilizing large boards, the grain ultimately dictates how a piece will finish out.Marcus Woodworks has the experience needed to be sure the job is done right at every step of the process. from grain and material selection, drawing on 3 years working at the lumber yard, drying and grading hard wood, selecting and picking orders to requirements, to building the jigs and patterns as well as engineering the process, drawing on years spent in architectural Woodworking shops as a pattern maker, and process design as well as training other craftsmen. to the actual build of the piece, i have countless hours of lay out and cutting joinery, and understand lean manufacturing as well as custom hand made process. and can offer just about any type of finish required, as i have formal schooling in profesional finishing systems, and have extensive experience working with all types of lacquers, catalyzed urethanes, vinyls, and polyesters, water base finish systems and traditional oils, waxes, and spar varnishes. also offering project management services, big and small.
