I came to United States at 14, an orphan refugee from Liberia, a severely war torn country. My mother lost her life when I was 9, my father who worked in the Special Security Service was murdered during the civil war by rebels when I was 11. I fled Liberia during the war and landed in Ghana.Leadership has been natural for me. I have managed to rise to the tasks and requirements of such roles. My peers have recognized my ability win influence, strike compromises and communicate a common goal. Cross cultural awareness, understanding, and communication are natural strengths of mine. I have lived in 4 countries; Liberia, Ghana, France and the United States. My initial years in America were marred by academic struggle, though I lived in the land of opportunity, those opportunities seemed very distant. At 19, I was out of high school, working in a fast food restaurant with very little hope of moving upward in American society. I knew wanted to go further, but I didn't know how, that was until I discovered the public library. The public library I was told, was free. There I found freedom.I believe in education, I believe in unity in the midst of diversity. This is a strong value. There are few other places in the world that is ideal is expressed more profoundly than in the USA. I believe in making dreams come true. I believe we have a God that has a unique purpose for all of us. I have a soft spot for comeback stories and resilient people. WeReconcile has been a dream of mine since high school. Many of my friends were growing up without their fathers and I get their pain. WeReconcile exists to create a path for fathers and their estranged children to face each other, ask for forgiveness, admit wrong doing and pursue reconciliation. It provides hope for a genuine and authentic relationship.
