At Devin Oil my responsibilities were centered around customer satisfaction through exemplary service. Here I picked up many of the essential functions of keeping the business running smoothly and held myself accountable for using those skills to aid the manager in ensuring that our end goal was met; earning happy return customers. Duties performed were based on the needs of the business at the time, ranging from janitorial to managerial. Examples of these include:Interacting with customers, data entry, banking, restocking the ATM, corresponding with the corporate office, verifying freight, POS, writing checks, assisting in the hiring process, sweeping / mopping, cleaning bathrooms, pumping gas, and various other tasks.

This seasonal position is one that I held for several seasons. I worked with this company during the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2011 seasons. Duties and responsibilities varied greatly and were dependent upon many factors such as fire-weather, terrain, proximity to communities, and size of the fires. Those duties included, but were not limited to, aiding in crew management, constructing fire line with hand tools, running hose lays, taking weather, and maintaining communication with other crew members via 2 way radios.The state of Oregon describes the working conditions as follows:"Required to work various shifts including holidays, nights, weekends, and long hours on short notice. Assignments to emergency incidents may require employee to be away from duty station for up to 21 days. Occasionally required to work under adverse weather conditions such as noise, smoke, heat, rough terrain, dust, inclement weather, and exposure to poison oak, bees and poisonous snakes. Requires occasional exposure to heavy equipment operations, aircraft, hazards of burning and/or falling material and chemical and biological pesticides."
