Worked as as a Train Systems Engineer leading the Alstom international technical team in the design, development, integration, validation, and support of the traction drive for the New York City Transit R211 railcars. The NYCT R211 contract is with Kawasaki as the prime who will supply the railcars, and Alstom will supply the traction drive. The contract is for up to 1612 new railcars. Other assignments include the PATCO overhaul; re-commissioning of the Alstom Combined System Test Lab; execution of the Combined Test Program for the MTA Baltimore LRV; closure of contractual deliverables for the NYCT R160 contract; Santa Clara APSE rebuild; as-needed support for other Alstom propulsion projects and new contract bids. Recognized as a technical Expert in the Alstom World Class Engineering organization

One of five founders of a start-up company developing large scale Energy Storage Systems. Lead the development of a 2.5MW energy storage system, including securing $3.5M in funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Through several projects we successfully designed, built, integrated, and commissioned a 2.5MW Ultracapacitor Wayside Energy Storage System for Long Island Rail Road, installed in Malverne NY, where the railway electrification suffered from voltage support issues. The system was operated successfully for a period of 10 months before being decommissioned. In this period, we grew employment to approximately 10 full time equivalents and expanded facilities from a few hundred square feet to production level.

In addition to the work at Electrical Power worX Corp, worked as a part-time Contract Engineer on various assignments for Alstom Transport. Assignments included testing of software functional performance on the Combined System Test Bed, on-site field EMI and performance testing in NYC, developing maintenance manuals, and contractual training materials, closure of contract correspondence and customer support for NYCT R160; technology transfer and support through the pre-series build of traction systems for Montreal MPM-10; engineering support and installation of a complete communication system and MDS on NYCT R42 railcars for demonstration purposes; support of new contract bids on LIRR M9’s, WMATA 7k, LA Metro, and MBTA; as-needed support for activities on PATCO, MBTA, NEC, after-market, and WMATA

Manage the functional team of Electrical and Propulsion Engineers. Oversee design activity related to projects including WMATA 2000/3000 and 6000, R160, NJT PL-42, and MARTA CQ310 and CQ311. Support new design and bid activities including bids for CTA 1000 series, Miami Dade overhaul, ConnDOT dual mode locomotives, and WMATA 7000 series.

Controller Design and Development Unit – Worked in a clean room environment on the design, development, and integration of PostScript interpreters into the Document Centre product line. Special activities included work on the integration of color into a black-and-white product line as well as work on a security taskforce.

Part of the Image Science Career Development Program. Worked 2 one-year rotational assignments within Eastman Kodak Research Labs while spending 8 hours per week in specially developed imaging science courses taught by in-house experts. Rotational assignments in the Microelectronics Technology Division and Color Neg/Pos Product Platform. Submitted 2 invention disclosures for Patents.
