1980-84: Marcus Giavanni, owned and operated the first ever "Heavy Metal Night Club,” called Rock Showplace, a 10,000 sq ft facility that had a 40' foot long stage, 4' high with a black curtain. He featured up-and-coming bands from LA, Seattle and beyond, such as: Krokus (Screaming in the night and Long Stick goes Boom), Quarter Flash (Harden My Heart), Tommy Tutone (8675309 song) and many others. 1985: Giavanni was lead singer for a band called "Voyeur Dire." They went to LA for a record deal with Capital Records, but Giavanni was involved in a severe automobile accident: a drunk driver ran a red light striking Giavanni's car. Later it was diagnosed that Giavanni suffered from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. He had surgery and was out for a year. The band did not get back together.1988: Giavanni went back to LA to restart his singing career, but after countless auditions only a few promising prospects offered good opportunities. Denovo Music Group and Scotty Brothers wanted Yngwie Malmsteen to find a front man like Bon Jovi, but his ego (as well as his other problems) got in the way with his business decisions’. Giavanni was then approached by Atlantic Records’ A & R Nick Loft, who was very impressed with Giavanni’s voice. He requested a show case… ASAP! However, when Giavanni informed Mr. Loft that his current project, East Meets West (band from Sweden, brought in by Mike Varney), was unable to meet Loft’s request, because the band was missing and the Swedish embassy was looking for their whereabouts. With a disapproving face Loft said, “You obviously don’t realize where you’re sitting or what label has interest in you, but when you get your s***, I mean your band back together, give me a call!”Mr. Giavanni recalls when leaving the Atlantic Records building, he heard the doors of opportunity closing in behind him, like the TV show “Get Smart!”Specialties: Business Administration, Forex Trading, Publishing and New Business Start Ups, Business Plans, Marketing, and Radio Shows.
