At Madejski Stadium I have the certifying authority role, carrying out during fixture inspections and overseeing compliance with the General Safety Certificate. Between 2000 and 2003 I successfully completed an NVQ4 in Health and Safety Regulation. In 2003 I became chair of the Berkshire Health and Safety Liaison Group, which comprises members from the 6 L.A.H&S enforcing authorities. As chair I additionally attended the South East Regional Partnership Forum (SERPF) with the regional HSE partnership manager and the chairs from the other six counties in the region. In 2007 the regional SERPF elected me their regional representative at the National Health and Safety Policy Forum, coordinated by the Local Government AssociationBetween April 2009 and October 2010 I secured a secondment into the role of HSE Partnership Manager for the S.E where I concurrently worked for the Local Authority Unit (LAU) within the HSE drafting guidance for LA's under Section 18 of the HASAWA74 (http://www.hse.gov.uk/section18/toolkits/capacity.pdf ).Between April 2009 and October 2010 I coordinated the joint work of the 67 local authorities across the S.E. In October 2011 my current role was expanded to include Licensing (premises and vehicles) in addition to chairing the Outdoor Events Safety team.In relation to Primary Authority Partnerships (PA) I was responsible for assessing compliance of health and safety management systems for J.D. From 1989 to 1990 I attended Central London Polytechnic (now Westminster University) obtaining a Diploma in Management Studies with distinction. In April 1991 I transferred to a team managers post relating to H&S and food safety; responsible for 7 staff. In addition to day to day supervision and management of the team, I was also responsible for a portfolio of higher risk premises. July 1995 and April 1997 I moved back to the Pollution team, responsible for 9 staff. I had no caseload of my own in a more enhanced role that involved strategic policy work in conjunction with council members and committee attendance.I was the dedicated officer for Part B processes under Environmental Protection legislation, contaminated land and air quality. In April 1997 I took on the role of Licensing Manager, responsible for six licensing officers and all aspects of premises licesning, special treatments and sports ground safety licensing. I oversaw safety requirements at three Premier League football stadiums, 2 of which during extensive rebuilding. I also oversaw safety at Queens Club, including the erection of an extensive temporary grandstand. This role also involved overseeing public safety requirements at Olympia and Earls Court 2 exhibition centres, Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo), Shepherds Bush Empire and Hammersmith Palais. Also I gained experience of live television broadcast safety at Riverside Studios. Show less
