My passion lies in using new and creative ways to educate those who have not had the opportunities that most parents expect for their children. A 2014 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, I was an officer in the rugby program there for three years and a co-founder of the wrestling program. I earned a degree in German, and departmental honors for my senior thesis, "The Persistent Past: Notgeld and Proto-Fascist Sentiments in Germany Between the World Wars," which received an A grade and I presented in German at the German Undergraduate Research Conference.After graduation, I lived and worked for a year in Greifswald, Germany on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant. I taught English under the supervision and guidance of a master teacher to grades 7-12, and have created and taught dozens of lessons in this capacity. I preferred to vary lessons from class to class, using games and technology where appropriate to maintain student interest while bringing content across in an efficient and understandable way.I am currently working as a middle school math teacher at Genesis School in Kansas City, MO, where I have been placed during my commitment to Teach For America.Specialties: German language writing & speaking fluency, lesson planning, tutoring, classroom teaching, public speaking, ACT & SAT preparation, coaching, research, critical thinking, writing & editing.
