• Designed and developed a facial expression algorithm using Apache MXNet, a deep learning framework, in Python.
• Developed a human emotions classification algorithm based on various deep convolutional neural networks (CNN).
• Implemented the EM (Expectation–maximization) algorithm and deep neural network to clean the dataset and correct data with noisy labels.
• Significantly improved the classification accuracy of happy and neutral expressions to 85% and sadness to 83% (baseline was 60% and 50%, respectively).
• Optimized the Python data processing script using multi-threaded programming, resulting in a 10% reduction in time usage.
• Successfully deployed the model to the platform and wrote the pre-processed code in C++, achieving a fast processing time of 50 ms for a single image.
