During my time at InsightSquared I filled the role of a full stack software engineer in an agile environment, with experience primarily in Python, Django, React, Redshift and DynamoDB. Some of the more specific experience I obtained include:- Designed and developed an automated, scalable customer onboarding system which introduced a standardized but configurable out of the box experience.- Designed and developed of an event based caching mechanism utilizing S3 to dramatically improve performance of the sales forecasting application.- Wrote REST API endpoints for interacting with reports generated by InsightSquared's homegrown data analysis tool

As an intern on the Build, Tools and Services (BTS) team my work was primarily based around developing internal tools used by a variety of staff throughout the company. Below is a list of specific experiences I've gained at this position:- Took part in designing and writing a ruby based custom built solution to distributing and automating product testing. This includes working on creating a ruby based domain specific language (DSL) and infrastructure to convert current product test cases to the DSL.- Improvement of the java based open source continuous integration software that is the base of the site's build system.- Significant database schema adjustment of a Ruby on Rails applications that manifests the build history of the products developed at the La Crosse site. This included both UI and back end changes to utilize the new schema.- Significant rework of a Ruby on Rails application that is used to systematically transfer large sets of directories between global development sites. This meant the replacing of a large amount of database use with calls to an remotely hosted API as well as general back end refactoring and UI improvements. Also included was implementing a multithreaded rate limiter to improve the reliability of the application.- Run dynamic security scans on products prior to releases using Web Inspect Enterprise.

I was a member of the nuclear physics research team at UW-L under my research advisor Dr. Shelly Lesher. My work was in low energy nuclear structure of deformed rare earth isotopes. I primarily performed analysis of gamma spectra as well as experimental setup and performance at outside facilities. I presented my work at the Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium at UW-L.

The work done over this internship was entitled 'Measurement of the 19F(a,n)22Na Reaction Cross Section for Nuclear Safeguards Science'. I was involved in all stages of the inverse kinematics portion of this project, the forward kinematics portion was performed the year prior. I presented it in Santa Fe, NM at the 2015 American Physical Society (APS) Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) Conference Experience for Undergraduates.

I worked on a low energy nuclear structure project entitled 'Internal Conversion Electron Emission Cross-Sections for 154Gd, 156Gd and 157Gd'. The goal was to perform a target testing experiment to determine the optimal energy for future work. I was primarily focused on determining the beam energy that would yield the largest conversion electron output with the lowest neutron flux. For the REU program, the work was written up in a final report as well as presented in the form of a 10-minute talk. Later in the year I presented it in Waikoloa Village, HA at the 2014 American Physical Society (APS) Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) Conference Experience for Undergraduates.
