• Assisted with embedding a positive compliance culture across the company and its network of adviser firms. • Offer compliance support to ensure adherence to rules, guidance and procedures, helping to ensure a positive outcome for consumers.• Providing constructive reports for management and stakeholders.• Provided support to the compliance manager by conducting focussed and detailed audits, monitoring and investigation. This included appraisals of financial promotions across all forms of media and providing sign off or direction in regards to required changes. • Identify any breaches or mis-conduct and report as such to the compliance manager.• Provided constructive feedback to firms, including action points and risk evaluation for each individual within the firm.

• I instructed groups and individuals in Kayaking, Paddle boarding, Archery, Climbing, Crate Stacking, Shelter Building, Bushcraft and Orienteering. I am also a Powerboat and Safety Boat instructor.

• I had responsibility for a number of IFA firms from small firms to larger companies with multiple advisers. • My role was to audit and monitor business activity and to approve advertising, social media and literature. • Evaluated new business for approval and worked closely with the firms in question and other elements within the Best Practice group. • I conducted appraisal meetings with advisers and annual testing in product and technical knowledge. • As appropriate I delivered training to new and existing advisers.

Short term contract - • My role was as subject matter expert (SME) in CONC and providing the bank with direction and advice in this regard, reporting findings to the board.• I looked at the wider compliance aspects and Conduct Risk advising HTB accordingly. I had to evaluate the banks monitoring and audit, AML and fraud mitigation and advised them accordingly. • A secondary aspect of the role involved looking at GDPR, due diligence in regards both customers and third-party suppliers. I had staff members that I managed, they analysed and flagged discrepancies to myself for considered opinion and investigation as required.

Provided compliance training, specifically drawing on my expertise in consumer credit, assessment and monitoring / audits on behalf of John Lewis Financial Services across their store network.

• PremFina are a provider of premium insurance and SAAS to brokers and consumer credit business. • My responsibility was training staff in compliance and DPA. • I also constructed the compliance and data protection manuals and delivered training to staff in this regard. • I monitored advertising, social media and other issues as they arose and sought to maintain three lines of defence. • I also implemented the three lines of defence, working closely with operational management and the board to asses, control and mitigate risk as a first line. • As part of my role implementing and overseeing Conduct Risk, I headed the internal risk and governance committee to give direction to the internal governance of the firm with specific regard to data protection, AML and fraud.

• Completing and submitting application to the FCA for full permission in relation to credit broking. • A large part of the role was looking at existing DPA provision and addressing issues accordingly. • CONC also formed a large part of my role and its application to the business. • I built a business centric compliance manual from the ground up. • Identified and advised on potential areas of Conduct Risk, mainly centred around TCF. • Additionally, I was responsible for the management of various staff members in both accounts and customer service, this was required in order to facilitate objectives. It also allowed me to setup lines of defence to mitigate risk and helped with monitoring procedure.

• I submitted to the FCA an application to request appropriate permissions. This involved collating data and information from the business and liaising with third party lenders.• In addition, prior to submitting the application I had to implement various systems and controls within the business to ensure compliance, all of which I constructed.• In the role I was responsible for implementation of training specifically with regards to the consumer credit act. • I instigated monthly meetings with management and senior staff to assess compliance procedure and policy, this formed part of the Conduct Risk element of my role. • I chaired the risk and governance committee. • Acted as manager for the customer service team as part of my role. • In addition, I had to deliver staff training in the area of compliance and DPA and identify how that would impact on the sales process. • I had to build a compliance manual from the ground up, referencing the FCA handbook as relevant mainly CONC but also to an extent ICOBS, changing and adapting both the manual and some business practices to achieve compliance. • During my time the compliance department expanded and I had two members of staff whom I managed.
