My experience comes in federal and state courts throughout the Carolinas and other states. I practice before South Carolina's procurement offices, SC Public Service Commission, NC Utilities Commission, US Patent and Trademark Office, SEC, and the SC AG as Securities Commissioner on the administrative side. I don't just litigate matters, I try them. I handle appeals at all levels, including the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.I work with plaintiffs and defendants in shareholder and partnership disputes, freeze outs, minority oppression, business valuation and class actions of many different types. I do divorce cases with business valuation issues. I work with electric, telecommunication and water/waste water utilities and cooperatives on litigation, regulatory matters, and condemnation. I represent a wide array of lenders/financial institutions including banks, specialty lending groups, credit unions and savings & loans in all forms of litigation, especially lender liability. Arbitration is a regular part of my practice.My chemistry background helps with drug misadministration cases for assisted living and nursing homes. I understand the regulatory implications of claims and defend all types of claims. I have a working relationship with expert witnesses in healthcare.I assist clients with public contracts, state procurement, and some federal procurement issues. I advise and litigate in the bidding process and continue with contract performance issues. I represent businesses seeking state business and also state agencies seeking to procure goods and services and using federal funds.My cases lead to issues of constitutional law under the First, Fifth, Tenth and Fourteenth Amendments. I use and defend against enhanced claims like RICO, False Claims Act, SC Unfair Trade Practices Act and NC Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practice Act.Insurance coverage is important in most every case, whether seeking a defense or how to collect. I have litigated issues for insurers and insureds. My coverage cases include environmental remediation, torts, technology, cyber breach and intellectual property. This experience gives me an ability to advise about coverage.Complex litigation involves documents, data and witnesses spread over a wide geographic area.
