January 2007 to January 2014• Project manager to oversee the design, budget and construction of a state of the art shaped charge manufacturing facility (SCMF). In addition to the various buildings, I also had overall responsibility for the design and manufacture of robotic production equipment.• As part of the above project, I was also the project manager to design and build an automated pilot plant to manufacture Schlumberger proprietary high temperature explosive.• These projects involved working with an explosive engineering consultancy, A&E firm, robotic production line integrator, pilot plant designer/fabricator and various other professional consultants, to prepare preliminary and final design drawings to construct the plant and equipment.• Prepared RFPs and performed bid analysis to select the final GC and various specialty consultants to work on the project.• The new SCMF is designed to operate with robots in high risk (explosive powder pressing) and traditionally high labor (liner pressing) areas, to significantly reduce employee exposure to risk and facilitate a dramatic improvement in productivity.• At full capacity output per employee is projected to be in excess of 250% of current output. The facility was completed and started operating in Q2 2013.• The Schlumberger SCMF is now internationally recognized as the world’s most technologically advanced and safest manufacturing facility of its kind.• Project manager to oversee the design and construction of industrial water well and waste water treatment plant.• Worked on environmental remediation options for a soon to be abandoned explosive manufacturing plant.• Led a global team to design a state of the art, automated, perforating gun manufacturing plant in Mexico.

• This was a joint project between Schlumberger and BP to develop equipment for fiber optic differential temperature sensing (DTS) in remote subsea wells.• I was responsible for advising on the safest and most cost effective way to test DTS system components in pressurized hydrogen to determine life expectancy under accelerated ageing conditions. We decided the best way to do this was to modify an existing Schlumberger Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) cable testing facility.• The laboratory is probably one of the best and safest fiber optic ageing facilities in the world.• I was also responsible for overseeing the final design and manufacture of DTS cables/sensors for the project.

August 2001 to June 2004• Reservoir Monitoring & Control (RMC) and Surface Well Testing (SWT) Support Manager. In this position I led two groups responsible for RMC and SWT Sustaining and Rapid Response Engineering.• The Rapid Response Engineering process enabled us to design and manufacture a wide range of customized RMC and SWT tools, to meet client specific needs in a relatively short period of time.

• In this position I led a group responsible for electric submersible pump (ESP) power cable, ESP flat cable extension, ESP motor magnet wire and ESP elastomer component development.• Developed two field proven technologies to suspend and support power cable in coiled tubing deployed ESP systems. Three patents were granted for this work.• For the above work we received the Hart’s Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation (International Oil & Gas industry award, 10 granted worldwide each year).• Developed, via computer modeling (FEA), a revolutionary design of ESP connector and motor lead extension. The connector was based on a tri-monomer perfluoroelastomer static seal and was suitable for use at up to 600°F. Previous industry limit was 450°F. A patent was granted for this work.

• Established a corporate engineering group to evaluate and develop new manufacturing technologies. • Established an extrusion modeling and tool design service for the Corporation. • Obtained a patent for a manufacturing process to produce a very high purity pre-spiraled MV sector shaped cable.• Via inter group technology transfer, introduced extruder weigh-feeder control technology to BICC Cables Corporation. Numerous units have been successfully installed in North America. Significant improvements to the base technology have been made that ultimately enabled real time live costing of the extrusion process.

• Complete operational responsibility for a high volume telephone cable manufacturing plant.• Successfully negotiated and introduced a highly competitive four shift agreement. This at the time was regarded as a model for other four shift operations within the corporation.• Increased overall plant output by approximately 200%, the workforce was increased by only 50%. Reduced absenteeism by 70%, total manufacturing inventory by 50%. WIP reduced by over 75%, scrap reduced by 30%.• Significantly improved overall safety performance; resulting in LTI frequency reduction from in excess of 50 (!) to less than 2 (the plant eventually achieved a LTI frequency of zero). • Fostered good relations with the Union and employees. Demonstrated by having only two grievances (at any level) in two years.

• As plant engineer I was responsible for the maintenance of the plant (>500,000 sqft, +600 employees), management of the various skilled trade groups (approximately 100 employees), installation of new equipment and efficient operation of existing processes.• Established a North American HV power cable qualification and test facility.• Conducted a review of in house rubber manufacture to determine the company’s best future option with respect to continued in house compounding or external sourcing.• Part of a team to design and build the, then, worlds most efficient MV power cable manufacturing plant in Canada.• Introduced several new and novel power cable manufacturing processes that resulted in significant cost reductions.

• Primarily involved with the development of MV Monosil manufacturing technology. Successfully commissioned a MV Monosil line at NKT in Denmark.
