Homegrown Toronto talent NextUp Mitch, born Marcus Mitchell, blends his insightful lyricism with his unique take on hip hop trap beats. Originally motivated to write about his own journey through darkness, he hopes his messages of reassurance uplift his listeners.Mitch is a rapper/singer, songwriter, and producer who engineers all of his own work. With a foundation in music production from Metalworks Institute, Mitch has continually progressed in honing his skills both creatively and technically. He founded NextUp Studios in 2018 to provide young artists with a professional space to record their music that was more affordable than a large commercial studio.NextUp Studios is part of the vision Mitch has for his brand NextUp Collective. Mitch created this collaborative organization to provide individuals with the tools and skills required for them to reach their potential. NextUp inspires those who are passionate about their craft to take it to the next level. It gives Mitch the entrepreneurial platform he needs to promote and share all that he creates.Mitch currently has released Freshman Phases and Saucy Sophomore, two out of four EPs in his highly anticipated saga, Class of ’97, through NextUp Productions. This project developed out of the lessons Mitch experienced in high school, which became a metaphor for his life in general. The four part series follows the progression of new beginnings and how they evolve with time. They have received acclaim from listeners from around the world.
