Over summers in high school and some years of college I worked as an intern at UNISA Inc. I assisted with data entry and created large spreadsheet templates of borrower loan information, optimizing end of month billing operations. In addition, I handled incoming and outgoing borrower and client phone calls to assist borrowers with payments and general information about their loans as well as assisting financial aid officers with using the various pieces of software (ProBill, eProm etc.) to certify loans and rectify any existing problems.

As an intern at Princess Cruise Lines I worked in conjunction with the rest of the Technical Department in engineering and financial analysis of various technical projects associated with the fleet of ships. I created several reports and project planning tools to improve the overall efficiency of the department and company as a whole. Specifically, I worked on improving the current system of monitoring wash water from the exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) by conducting analysis on a variety of different wash water racks. I also conducted a large scale waste management study in conjunction with the Environmental Department which ultimately led to the optimization of port off-loading schedules and the recommendation of moving away from on-board incinerators to large scale sanitized shredding machines to deal with waste.
