A creative and perceptive individual, I thrive working as part of a team and work independently with confidence. Through previous employment experience I have developed and demonstrated a strong set of interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills; working with people of all ages and many different backgrounds. Graduating from the University of Exeter in Neuroscience BSc, understanding the human brain and using this knowledge to help improve the lives and minds of people is a purpose that I passionately desire. Although gaining laboratory experience was difficult for everyone studying during that time, I was one of the few fortunate enough to spend six months of my final year in the Hatherley electrophysiology Labs performing research for my dissertation. Guided by Prof. Jon T Brown I became confident and well practised in the lab environment working with mice, gaining many fundamental and advanced techniques. My academic interests focus significantly on cognitive neuroscience and I am eager to start my career expanding my knowledge and skills in areas of neurophysiological recordings and computational neuroscience. This interest extends into the field of mental health research prompting my study in mental health psychology with King’s College London. This is a distance learning part-time MSc that allows me to progress in my academic pursuits while working as a Nursing Assistant on the Neurology Ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Here I have gained a vast set of skills ranging from patient care, clinical practices, and general hospital administration. As a compassionate and creative individual, I quickly became a valued member of an amazing team of nursing staff, finding insightful and unique solutions to the many challenges we face daily on the ward. I am looking forward to taking this valuable clinical experience with me into a research focused career.
