The training included classroom interaction, video, and hands-on Acid-Etch training.•Reduced the average turn-around time to 4.8 hours on 2,540 submitted heat treat samples improving velocity by more than 1 hour over 2008.•Utilized analysis techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy to determine root cause of product failures. Collected data leading to corrective actions on valve wear on common rail injectors and developing new material for the MEUI-C body.•Utilized the tensile testing machine to uncover a heat treat issue at a supplier of a part with a 50%+ rejection rate reducing them to below 5% non-conforming rate in 2 months.•Led Value Stream team with Heat Treat Supervisor and technicians to document all heat treat process steps.
