Supervisory General Supply Specialist
CurrentAssigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; Evaluates work performance of subordinates; Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions; Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager; Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases; Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training; Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed; Develops performance standards.Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and integrate the work of a staff responsible for a wide range of inventory-related functions.Serve as the primary point of contact for monitoring inventory records and inventory-related activities.Identify and analyze internal and external program issues affecting the immediate organization and taking appropriate action.Meets with individuals at all levels in both government and the private sector to share information and resolve operating problems.Adjusts staffing levels or work procedures within the organizational unit to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at higher echelons. Justifies the purchase of new equipment. Improves work methods and procedures used to produce work products. Oversees the development of technical data, estimates, statistics, suggestions, and other information useful to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize. Decides the methodologies to use in achieving work goals and objectives, and in determining other management strategies.
