Using CAD, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, across multiple platforms, I was to produce final ‘As-Installed documentation and drawings for all sites across the London Underground network, referencing and merging client and stakeholder documentation/design into one final document for handover to the client. As well as design experience, the role required strong organisational and investigative skills, with a proactive, logical and creative approach to problem solving and decision-making, while working both autonomously and within a team.

Succeeding the SER Manager upon his relocation to another company, I now manage all functions, processes and designs for all SERs within the Mechanical Engineering department for the Jubilee and Northern Line signalling upgrades. Working to contract, tight deadlines and strict guidelines, whilst liaising with Installation, Test, Human Factors, Signalling, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to produce accurate designs for the installation of all non wayside hardware within all SERs’. Constant dialogue, process, design and progress reviews with all functional heads, management, Toronto counterparts and Indian subcontractors to ensure a consistent work ethic is followed, to ensure a better quality of work is produced, with less rework.

During quiet periods and in my own time, I used the software to learn as much as I could before requesting that I take the Bentley Institute’s Essential Microstation V8i course, achieving my certificate in June of 2009. After passing the course, I started to work alongside the Mechanical Design team balancing my workloads to be able to learn as much as I could. This led to me being asked to join the Mechanical Design team as a CAD Designer/Technician in December 2009, to produce mechanical designs for wayside signaling assets along the Northern Line.
