As part of robotics and actuators team, I developed a new actuator (motor) technology based on acrylic and silicone rubber polymers called electroactive polymer artificial muscle (EPAM). I worked on government funded (DARPA, DOE, NIH) and private funded research projects. Developed manufacturing process to reliably make various configurations of the linear actuator technology. Created feasibility demonstrations of walking, jumping, swimming, and slithering robots. Build multiple degree-of-freedom manipulators. Built soft sensors and closed loop sensor and actuator systems.

Carried out research comparing natural muscles to various artificial muscle technologies in Dr. Robert Full's Polypedal Lab. The lab studies animal and insect locomotion for inspiration to robotic design.
