To obtain a position in the field of social work.I am a person who is empathetic towards people with disabilities and limitations, and I have pursued my bachelors degree in addition to my associates degree in social work to help people with disabilities and limitations address barriers in their lives. This applies to my objectives because the mission of social work is to 1) provide effective and efficient social work services to people in need; 2) alleviate poverty; oppression and discrimination; and 3) promote social and economic justice. My degree is accomplished through the application of ethical and responsible standards of practice, advocacy, activism and leadership in agency settings. I have field work experience at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in my practicum coursework and Valley View Middle School. While I was a intern at Edinburg Regional Medical Center, I was under the supervision of Ruby Salazar. I worked in a hospital setting helping coordinate in and outpatient services. At Valley View Middle School I worked in a classroom setting. I assisted the teacher by shadowing the teacher to learn the profession.
