Having immigrated from South Africa at the age of 10, I have always been driven through my education to take full advantage of being situated in Australia. Throughout high school I always balanced my courses between highly analytic and data centric classes such as Maths and Science, with more creative outlets such as Architecture and Graphic Design. My success in balancing these two fields granted me placement in the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Queensland (UQ), leading me to first complete a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biomedical Science in 2019. However, partway through my first year of the Doctor of Medicine I decided to take time away from university to reassess my passion and goals. While I greatly appreciated and valued the skills and analytical mindset that I gained in my time in the field of science, I longed for the creativity that I could engage with in high school. Hence in 2021, I returned to university to begin a Bachelor of Architectural Design.Throughout my architectural studies, I consistently strived to push myself into new and challenging ways, constantly engaging with new styles, mediums and software whenever possible. My aim has always been to inject my knowledge of the human physiology into my architecture to mould unique and powerful experiences. This mindset and drive has led to being featured on the UQ Engineering, Architecture and IT (EAIT) Dean's List three separate times across my architectural degree. This success allowed me to also take advantage of a number of additional opportunities in the field, such as being employed as a Research Assistant at UQ as well as volunteering as an EAIT Ambassador, running workshops for school children to introduce them to basic architectural ideas.
