Programming is hard! Now lets go build something awesome!I have been fascinated by programming almost my entire life. I started out in elementary school building programs on my Apple 2GS making programs to help me with my spelling, my passion for designing and building software has never slowed down since.I have now shifted away from general development and more into software architecture and team leadership. The challenge and reward of designing an awesome product and then seeing my team work to bring it to life and ultimately hand it off to users to abuse is an amazing way to spend my days.I love watching the growth of my team, from the entry level members who are learning the difference between working on their own on a few hundred lines of code to working as part of a team on hundreds of thousands of lines of code, and seeing their first production deployments. To seeing more senior members start to mentor their peers and jump in to help them during ad-hoc design sessions and helping them work through problems all while building out complex resilient systems on their own.My current focus has been revolving around a few common areas:* Designing bulletproof systems that expect catastrophic failure and handle it automatically without intervention* Systematically improving all systems under my control from the performance/reliability/security and maintainability aspects* Constant improvement of the development cycle to remove all bottlenecks and encapsulate the madness that is software project management* Encourage team members to improve their technical, communication and leadership skills
