The Next Step Program : Spring 2014Developed a resource and referral booklet for The Next Step program that is used by multidisciplinary interns and attorneys at the State of Minnesota Office of the Sixth Judicial District Public Defender in effectively administering program services. The goal of The Next Step program is to aid clients in successfully adhering to the terms of their probationary sentence by providing information and referral (I&R) services appropriate to their specific needs and goals.State of Minnesota Sixth Judicial District Public Defenders Office : Intern : 2013-2014Engaged and encouraged client connection with residential placement options to aid in presenting alternative sentencing options to the court. Primary responsibilities included:•Client engagement and assessment•Investigation and documentation of client medical and social histories•Interagency communication with a wide variety of community program and service providers•Client advocacySynthetic Drugs: Community Awareness and Education : SLC HHS Conference : Fall 2013Collaborated with a small team to formally propose and coordinate a workshop on synthetic drugs for the St. Louis County Health and Human Services Conference.Community Action Duluth : Getting Ahead Program : Intern : Summer 2013Co-facilitated group discussions for individuals experiencing poverty in order to aid participants in discovering the causes of, and influences that poverty has on themselves and their communities. Helped prepare participants to affect change in their own lives by aiding individuals in the creation of individual resource building plans.Synthetic Drugs in the Northland: A Public Forum Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College : Spring 2013Developed and coordinated a public forum on synthetic drugs in collaboration with other CSS Social Work students.
