GitHub: https://github.com/marcusaroldan/I am a fourth-year Computer Science major at Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. My overall career goal is to work in the transportation field, utilizing my background in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence to create unique solutions.Over the past couple of years, I have had the pleasure of exploring a field intersection I am very passionate about, Urban Transportation, Transit Systems, and Computer Science. In the coming years, the design of our cities and transportation systems will be integral in our combat against man-made climate change. This will require complex problem-solving to create transportation systems that balance many stakeholders' priorities. To make these decisions, the use of data analysis will be extremely impactful in the development of holistic solutions.Most recently, I have been collaborating with the Boston Cyclist Union's Data Science Team, BCU Labs on the creation of an upcoming dashboard incorporating my most recent project, Boston 311 Infrastructure Issue Identifier. The project utilizes publicly-accessible data through the Boston 311 API to identify reports of issues affecting pedestrian, cycling, transit, and traffic infrastructure. A front-end prototype is available here: https://marcusaroldan.github.io/311-infrastructure-issue-identifier/One of my first projects which combined Computer Science, Data Analysis, and Transportation Engineering to address problems or shortcomings I have identified is the BICRE project. The goal of this project is to create a tool to generate directions using integrated transit routes (both cycling and public transit) because of an identified gap in Google Maps' transit directions. More information about this project can be found in the BICRE repo on my Github.During my internship as a Software Engineer at Wishroute, I worked alongside dedicated teammates in a wonderfully dynamic environment, utilizing SQL and functional Java in an AWS environment. As a teammate, I am hardworking, reliable, and value honest and open communication. This experience was highly influential on my intended career path, as the values of Wishroute and the tangible improvements to customers' lives we empowered through our products reinforced my desire to utilize my skills and passions to create a lasting, postive impact on the world.
