I am a seeking an entry level position as a Full Stack Java Developer. I've wanted to do this for more than a decade!Beginning in 2004, I was a Mortgage Loan Processor at Citigroup. I had dabbled with macros before, and wanted to see if I could use them to do my job more efficiently. Using sample code, help files, and online forums, I taught myself Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). I loved it! I was coding prior to my shift, on my breaks, on my lunch, and I'd stay late. Soon, I challenged myself to take what I'd learned to the next level, and I did. I took on new challenges just for the sake of conquering the challenge. By the time I was laid off from that job (mortgage crash), I had automated or semi-automated large portions of my job and other department processes. As the market decline began, I attended an information session at a local university to get information on pursuing coding as a career. I'd always thought that it would take four years and a computer science degree to break into the field. I hesitated to move forward with the university because layoffs had already begun. I didn't think it was the appropriate time to make that life-changing decision. I stayed in mortgage and customer service for 12 more years, and decided to make a change. That's when I heard about Claim Academy, a coding bootcamp. They could make me a software developer in 3 months. I applied, and found that the passion was still there. The excitement of successfully running code was still there. This is what I've wanted to do for a very long time! I recently graduated Claim Academy, and I'm so excited to get into the field.I'm interested in an entry level Java Developer position. As much as I've recently learned, I know there is so much more to learn, and I'M READY!
