Engaged to strengthen the performance of the multi-million dollar Intermodal business, I developed and executed a strategy of business remediation that addressed legacy issues in relation to operations and asset management, OHSE and compliance, IT, and employee morale. With accountability for a 9-figure revenue line, composed of a linehaul transport operation, local transport operation (including wharf cartage), rail operation and 20,000 sqm of warehousing, I set a new direction and culture code for a team of 125+, improving collaboration and driving performance gains. Initially engaged to analyse logistics expenditure and assess options to bring the capability in-house, I was promoted to Operations Manager in Jan 2008 to lead the set-up of operations for Visy Logistics. A high profile role, I set and executed strategy to establish the Logistics division from the ground-up including cost models, CAPEX/OPEX business cases, OHSE and procurement. In Feb 2010, I was appointed State Manager for Victoria, leading a period of continuous improvement to strengthen operating processes and realise profit gains. During this period, I also held accountability for Visy Logistics’ largest external account, PACT Group.• Led a vendor management program for linehaul operations that identified transport routes for company linehaul interstate fleets, internalising cost and margin to realise millions of dollars in savings;• Subsequently established Visy Logistics from the ground-up across all States of Australia, a business now generating hundreds of millions of dollars per annum;• Set-up transport and warehouse operations management, OHSE & compliance, asset procurement and management, IT and IS implementation, HR / IR, recruitment and training for Visy Logistics;• Improved profitability of VIC / SA operations by 160% to deliver an average weekly EBITDA of 15%, consolidating profit centres to minimise resource costs and maximise asset utilisation;• Developed and executed an account strategy for PACT Group that grew warehousing by 30% in Victoria and opened up further footprints in Queensland and New South Wales.
