I used to be a Broadcast Supervisor, heading up a team of operators at Discovery Networks (now Warner Bros. Discovery). Going through major changes, this was a very challenging role (in a good way), where I learnt how to manage complex broadcast projects, implement state-of-the-art software, and motivate an ever expanding team. While working here, my first daughter was born, and the long hours in the studio prevented me from spending much time with her. The time we did spend together, we watched a whole lot of cartoons and bonded over silly stories. So much so that I figured I might as well make a living out of kids content. So I did. In 2020 I took a giant leap after ten years in the broadcast field, to pursue a career in content development. Having valuable experience in audio and video management, I joined Cake Entertainment, an independent company specialising in the production, distribution, financing and development of kids’ and family entertainment brands. As Head of Global Operations, my role is multifaceted, to say the least. Asset distribution, post-production, localisation, editing, negotiating with major industry players, and managing large scale AV projects, just to name a few. Over the last couple of years, I’ve developed close relationships with the biggest broadcasters and streaming services in the world, and continue doing so daily.
