About Marcus Hanscom

After a more than 17-year career working in enrollment management for two private universities in New England, I stepped across the aisle in late 2023 to expand my work in higher education with an enrollment marketing consulting role at DD Agency. My decision to move away from university life wasn't an easy one, but I've taken comfort in knowing that I deliberately landed with a company that aligns with my values to create helpful and high value pathways to aid students in finding and selecting their right-fit schools. The desire to do something that affects positive change for others is what ultimately drew me to work in higher education. None of us in the field ever truly aspired to work in admissions or enrollment management – we all find some way of falling into it, and in many cases, falling in love with it. And every day throughout my career I've had the opportunity to allow my passion for marketing to merge with the ability to help students realize their educational dreams. For much of my professional career, I have devoted my efforts toward marketing to, recruiting, and supporting graduate students. As the field has evolved, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to expand into broader work in graduate enrollment management, helping campuses create a more inclusive and supportive graduate student experience. I now have the opportunity to partner with schools as they look to recruit, enroll, and support larger graduate student cohorts as demographic changes shift the entire higher education landscape. Some of my most fulfilling experiences have come from participation and board appointments with organizations like NAGAP and NEGAP, and opportunities to present on marketing and GEM best practices at a variety of association conferences and at events sponsored by Academic Impressions, Aslanian Market Research, Carnegie Dartlet, Stamats, and more.
