Ever since my late teens I have had an interest in understanding nature. In high school the natural sciences were always the subjects I enjoyed the most. In particular, the inner workings of the cell and how such complex organisms could arise from so seemingly simple building blocks was something that fascinated me. This fascination and a desire to work with something that has a direct positive impact on people’s well-being eventually drove me to study molecular biology at Lund’s University.During my master’s project I worked with miRNA, regulatory RNA covered only in passing during my undergrad-studies, which started my interest in their use for regulation. For my PhD project I was then able to continue to nurture this interest, as well as expand my up until that point very limited knowledge on gene therapy. I was able to work with both design and production of lentiviral and AAV vectors, as well as use them in vitro and in vivo. To me, the possibilities offered by gene therapy are almost endless. I would like to continue exploring these possibilities, expand my own knowledge and expertise, and hopefully contribute to a disease-free world.Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.
