Responsible for providing leadership and coaching to a small and diverse team tasked with conceptualizing and developing the 'next big thing' at Nautilus. What initially began as a team of three mechanical engineers focused on R&D activities eventually became a team of five focused on developing full product experiences - including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers in collaboration with teams across product development. We prioritized and enabled the front end creative process to drive new product success.• Established and led the Innovation Steering Committee - an innovation project decisioning group made up of product development, marketing and business leadership & executives• Created an open Innovation Funnel in Trello to increase transparency and simplify processing• Initiated a small 'go/kill' team with marketing and product owners to eliminate ideas that weren't interesting to them, reducing the burden on the larger team• Conceptualized and launched a series of company-wide "Nautilus Innovation Challenge" ideation events, leading nine events, resulting in 58 unique concepts presented and participation by 100+ employees• Conceptualized and supported "NIC@Nite" happy hour ideation events - led by innovation engineers, creating free space to ideate and discuss relevant topics• Created Innovation Idea Submission Portal, allowing employees to submit concepts directly to the team regardless of their role• Credited with creating a cultural shift towards a more innovative mindset in the organization• Multiple award winning and/or market disrupting concepts advanced through production: - VeloCore IC Bike - Open Platform digital concept - Adaptive Cardio Programming - Adaptive Strength Programming• Led collaborative development of digital content for VeloCore, including training content• External inventor relationship management, concept development & pitching ideas to leadership team

Key Accomplishments:SelectTech 560 Dumbbell - Conceptualized and led team in design and development of an all new selectable dumbbell, featuring automatic rep counting while enhancing the consumer experience. • Creation of Nautilus first digitally connected product • IP awarded for built in sensors and for space maximizing design • RedDot Best of the Best Award, 2016 • ISPO Product of the Year in Health & Fitness, 2017Successfully proposed and established dedicated Innovation team focused on early stage R&D in 2017, with associated promotion to leadership position.The connected 560 dumbbell was a bit ahead of it's time. Our teams integrated an IMU (3 axis gyroscope, 3 axis accelerometer), BLE and magnetic potentiometer into the handle of the dumbbell. The initial scope was intended to track workout activity, recognize and learn movements, track reps and how much weight was selected. This turned into quite a challenge for the internal and external partner, particularly in a tight timeline. Some great lessons were learned in what you can accomplish with innovation, and what happens when you force it into a production timeline. (Not to mention, how challenging it is to track human motion, algorithm development, on line sensor calibration, while establishing brand new vendor relationships and setting up a production line in Juarez, Mexico!)

MotoCzysz was a start-up company in Portland, OR focused on the development of an all new road race motorcycle known as the C1. During my employment we were focused on internal combustion engines. Much of our work supported later success with the E1PC electric motorcycle.Responsible for all suspension and chassis design and development. Including design and analysis, testing, fabrication, suspension tuning / ride work, and track support. Served as a general 'jack of all trades'.Developed solutions that met performance goals, were manufacturable, reliable, and could be easily assembled.
