Beginning in 2012, I directed the operations of Suttons Bay Virtual School in areas outside of the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District, including the Jackson Learning Lab, which at the time enrolled 150 students in a virtual environment. Responsibilities include implementation of programs, human resources, training of staff, development of data systems, allocation and maintenance of technology resources, promotion, and recruitment.In addition, beginning in March of 2013, I served as the principal of the Great Lakes K12 Virtual School project. GLK12 was a public school consortium of the Crawford-Ausable, Manistee and Suttons Bay Public School Districts. As principal, I was responsible for combining the three existing programs, hiring and training all staff, coordinating educational programs, student interventions, community outreach, developing operating budgets, conducting state reporting, and establishing operating procedures for the K-12 program, which operated from Lake Michigan in the west to Lake Huron in the east, and from Clare, to the Mackinaw Bridge.

In 2009, TBCS technology consisted of a handful of obsolete Dell workstations running pirated copies of Windows XP, with no security or backup. As Director of Technology, I was able to accomplish the following within the first year:* Installation of a Linux (Ubuntu) thin client server, with redundant RAID w/ secondary backup & automated SSH backup to cloud server, UPS power protection, and centralized file systems and user accounts.* Replaced broken school web page with Moodle-based learning management platform.* Training of staff to utilize Moodle for collaborative writing assignments, message board discussions, parent communication, and formative assessments. * Deployment of thin-client student computer lab, including hard-wired network connections, electrical upgrades, projection technology, and LCD monitors. Total Workstations: 25* Replacement of teacher workstations.* Addition of networked classroom laser printers, and color HP networked printers.* Installation of HP Procurve commercial grade network switches.This was accomplished with no budget whatsoever; all materials were donated, or covered via donations. Later projects included:* Server upgrades* Classroom student workstations (six thin clients per classroom.)* A second HP Procurve switch to manage network traffic on the north end of the school.* Projection technology and document cameras for all classrooms, as well as speakers to utilize video instruction.* Upgraded, distributed WIFI access points to allow uninterrupted, reliable network access to the increasing number of wireless devices utilized at the school.Before leaving the position in 2013, the Ubuntu server and thin client workstations were decommissioned and replaced with a Windows 2012 server and 40 Windows client workstations. Active Directory was employed to manage user accounts and storage.
