Assists the Supervisor - Equipment Maintenance in supervising and coordinating the activities of maintenance personnel. Repairs all mechanical equipment. Demonstrates leadership and technical ability to get the job done. Requires demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and perform maintenance on all types of automotive, hydraulic equipment, gasoline, and diesel powered vehicles. May also require knowledge of oilfield services equipment operation and maintenance.Responsible for maintenance and repairs on M1A1 MBT, AAV, LAV-FOV, M777 Howitzer, M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicles, and M60A3 AVLB

Assist and lead repairs on major assemblies, instruct soldiers in care, maintenance and troubleshooting on functional systems to include: Engine, transmission, hydraulics, fire control systems and electronic assemblies.Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting on M2/M3A3 series BFV/BFIST vehicles.Closed out EAS sites in Mumaciai, Lithuania, and Tapa, Estonia for vehicle shipment to Mannheim, DE, and close out of EAS task order.

Participates in assuring the operational readiness of equipment in the areas of operational maintenance, and its related supply management procedures. Monitors reports, identifies problem areas and develops training to target specific needs. Plans and carriers out the successive steps and initiatives in obtaining and analyzing data and identifying, resolving or alerting management to potential problems. Reviews completed work for technical adequacy, conformance to objectives and compatibility with other work products. Reviews work in progress and upon completion, provide recommendations affecting policy, such as changes to procedures. Responsibilities include; reliability analysis, review and evaluation of process quality deficiency reports, implementation of life cycle management measures, quarterly metrics reporting and assistance with technical publications development. Provides monthly representation at various meetings related to acquisitions, logistics, maintenance and program management. Chair and attend meetings with employees, contractors, customer, and mechanics to develop overall logistics support plans; Compute quantitative repair parts requirements for support and define acquisition requirements; Compile, maintain and review documents, allowance lists, and components necessary for the efficient operation of equipment; Provide technical data necessary to develop procurement requirements; Advise in the development of production procedures and techniques where intensive knowledge of the equipment and standards is a consideration; Conduct studies to establish maintenance and supply procedures, facility layout and operations; Reduce unnecessary or unexpected duplication in processes by reevaluating methods; Investigate abnormal consumption of materials and recommend corrective measures; Prepare, revise, and review purchase description standards and specifications; Review, analyze and evaluate deficiency and failure reports;

Maritime Prepositioning Squadron One

Performs basic automotive mechanic duties incident to inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Ordnance family of vehicles, (LAV,AAV,M1A1,AVLB and Towed Artillery) which are diesel powered vehicles having utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical systems features, and controls designed combat, logistical or other special applications. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level mechanics and assists higher level mechanics. Performs other tasks as assigned. Specific knowledge of Cummins VTA-903T engine.
